White-tailed deer occasionally pass through our backyard at dusk. In this instance, three does had separated from the others and stopped to graze for a few minutes. When I grabbed my camera to photograph them through the window, they must have sensed my presence (which made for a pretty good composition). It wasn't until later when I had gone through my photos and decided to paint them that I noticed the belly... I double-checked the date of the photograph and, sure enough, it was taken in May; this doe was expecting very soon!
